I was driving from Michigan to Ohio on Friday. Jesus was sitting in the passenger seat. We had Uncle Scratch's Gospel Revival's latest CD, "North of Hell" blasting on the stereo. We both were singing along, "Devil is a pussy, oh yeah..."
Jesus looked over at me and said, "Brother Ted, No one understands me."
I shook my head, "Jesus, Jesus! No one understands anyone. How in the hell do you expect them to understand the Son of God?"
"I wish you wouldn't call me that," he said. "I just want to be a regular guy. Hanging out with you, having a few beers. Maybe some smoke."
Then we came around a corner, and there was a big white cross, with a spotlight shining on it. "I hate those things!" he said. "Why do people commemorate how I died, but forget what I said?!?"
"It's easier," I replied, "and people are idiots."
Jesus chuckled and said, "Oh yeah, I forgot."
We both burst out laughing, and drove into the night.
"Devil is a pussy, oh yeah..."
